Tumwater community day 2010 is set for Saturday September 11 from 10a-1p. Face painting, make-it and take-it crafts, car safety checks, free bicycle helmets for kids, pioneer activities and games will also be available. See displays about where tax dollars go, fire prevention, protecting ground water, building codes and tree preservation.
There will be no parking at the City Hall or Fire Department due to the activities so please use the adjacent parking lot at the Tumwater Attorney General’s Office.
The day begins with a brief ceremony in memory of those lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001. Activities following the ceremony include coffee with Mayor Kmet, exploring fire, police, utility and military vehicles in the Touch-A-Truck event.
The TCTV truck will be on site with video opportunities and a shredder truck will be available for citizens to shred personal documents. In addition, a Tumwater police officer will answer question about preventing identity theft. Janelle Guthrie from the Washington State Attorney General’s Office will visit at 11 a.m. to discuss consumer protection and the latest identity theft scams.
