On August 27 Olympia Childrens Museum’s 2010 “Sand in the City” event kicks off Friday August 27th at 10am with the Team Sand Sculpting Competition as well as a day of art activities and face painting. If you haven’t attended Sand in the City before expect thousands of spectators, some great food and entertainment and over 40 hands on art and science activities. Master sand sculptors will be on hand to craft 240 tons of sand into art. The schedule is as follows

Friday August 27th

• Daytime: 10 am – 4 pm – FREE public viewing!
  Team Sand Sculpting Competition
  A fun selection of art activities and face painting
  Team awards presentation (4 pm)
• Evening: 6 pm – 7:30 pm
  Seaside Soireés

  Choose from 13 individually 60′s themed pre-gala cruises and receptions onboard our SandBlast! 2010 Flagships. Buy
  individual tickets or reserve a whole boat with your friends!

  (Ages 21 & over. Tickets $150-$175 ­- includes admission to SandBlast! Gala)

• Night: 7 pm-11 pm
  SandBlast! Evening Waterfront Gala

  Mix, mingle, and tour the completed sand sculptures while
  enjoying Anthony’s gourmet seafood  and appetizers, desserts from Wagner’s European Cafe, 
  spirits and beverages provided by Fish Brewing Co.  Bid
  on original works of art, special trips and seaside fun at
  the ArtSplash! Silent Auction.  Dance to the music of Beatniks with opening band GRayDaiSY.
